چکیده

The evolution of open standards and especially those pertaining to the family of XML technologies, have a considerable impact on the way the Geomatics community addresses the acquisition, storage, analysis and display of spatial data. The most recent version of the GML specification enables the merging of vector and raster data into a single ‘‘open’’ format. The notion of ‘‘coverage’’ as described in GML 3.0 can be the equivalent of a raster multi-band dataset. In addition, vector data storage is also described in detail through the GML Schemas and XML itself can store the values of a raster dataset, as values of a multi-table dataset. Under these circumstances an issue that must be addressed is the transformation of raster data into XML format and their subsequent visualization through SVG. The objective of this paper is to give an overview of the steps that can be followed in order to embody open standards and XML technologies in the raster domain. The last part of the work refers to a case study that suggests a step by step methodology to accomplish classification, an important function in Cartography and Remote Sensing, using the XMLencoded images. r 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Vectorization of Glyphs and Their Representation in SVG for XML based Processing

This paper shows an approach for converting bitmap images of text glyphs into a vector format which is suitable for being embedded in XML representations of digitized documents. The focus is on a contour based vectorization method as the output can be easily transformed into SVG glyph descriptions. A concrete implementation is described and the results are discussed with special regard to the v...

An Access Control System for SVG Documents

Selectively controlling access to images’ features is becoming more and more essential as modern computing and communications encourage the use of information in graphical form. The monolithic nature of traditional raster images makes controlled dissemination of their internal features a difficult task. Recently, however, XML-based graphics formats such as the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) sta...

A Comparative Study on Steganography Digital Images: A Case Study of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Portable Network Graphics (PNG) Images Formats

Today image steganography plays a key role for exchanging a secret data through the internet. However, the optimal choice of images formats for processing steganography is still an open issue; therefore, this research comes into a table. This research conducts a comparative study between Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) image format and Portable Network Graphics (PNG) image format. As results sho...
